iSDO · Digital laboratory since 1999

Everything begins
at the source.

One landscape. Four elements. A shape that reveals what it holds within. This is the story connecting iSDO’s imagery to the projects that emerge from it.

01 · The landscape

A living landscape.
A shared origin.

The Hero represents the laboratory: distinct places connected by paths and a stream. Behind the buildings, nature is always moving. Four elements compose this scene and give it its rhythm.

01

Fire

The sun rises

Sunrise opens the scene. Light gradually reveals the landscape: an image of an idea emerging and illuminating what becomes possible.

02

Water

The stream flows

At the centre of the scene, a stream flows between the spaces. It evokes the movement of information, experience and knowledge across projects.

03

Earth

The tree takes root

Behind the buildings, a tree sways. It recalls a connection to the real world: projects grow in a place, with time, experience and roots.

04

Air

The bird crosses the sky

A bird opens the horizon. Its flight evokes the freedom to explore, change perspective and share ideas.

02 · The symbol

The invisible
takes shape.

The iSDO logo is inspired by the tesseract, a “four-dimensional cube”. The visible shape is a projection, suggesting a dimension that our eyes cannot directly grasp.

In iSDO’s visual language, the tesseract is the origin, the source. It holds the ideas and possibilities from which projects emerge. The animation transforms it into a cube: a project takes a visible, concrete form that we can explore and use.

The inside becomes the outside. Potential becomes a creation. The colours express the diversity of projects emerging from one source.

03 · The laboratory

Since 1999,
setting ideas in motion.

Founded in 1999 by Philippe Contal, iSDO is a digital laboratory. It imagines, launches, builds and nurtures projects: content spaces, e-commerce and non-commercial websites, platforms, tools and applications.

Each project is a field of experimentation. Design, publish, observe real uses, learn and share: this work feeds the next experiments. Knowledge grows over time through contact with the real world.

Today, Influence, Mnemory, #TerritoireDigital, Senkōra, PlugWit and the Digital & AI Observatory give this approach different forms: relationships, memory, content, processes, applications and an understanding of digital change.

04 · The creator

A human source.
Philippe Contal.

Philippe Contal is the creator of iSDO. An entrepreneur, engineer and Digiculteur, he connects information, experience and people to turn knowledge into the capacity to act.

iSDO is the experimental ground for this approach. His personal website continues the story with his background, vision and work.

Understanding iSDO

What is iSDO?

iSDO is a digital laboratory founded in 1999 by Philippe Contal. It imagines, develops and nurtures content spaces, websites, platforms and applications.

Where does iSDO come from?

iSDO began in 1999 with Philippe Contal’s approach: experiment with digital technology through real projects, learn from them and turn that knowledge into useful solutions.

Who is behind iSDO?

Philippe Contal is behind iSDO. He created it and embodies the laboratory’s approach as an entrepreneur, engineer and Digiculteur.

Who created iSDO?

Philippe Contal created iSDO in 1999.

What does the iSDO logo represent?

The logo is inspired by a tesseract, a four-dimensional cube. It symbolises the laboratory’s creative source. Its transformation into a cube represents ideas becoming visible projects.

What do the four elements in the Hero represent?

Fire is the sunrise, water is the central stream, earth is the moving tree behind the buildings and air is the bird crossing the sky.
